I am the Creator of Digital Photography Department (DPD). I use the space to share information about photography. My goal for this site is to create a useful collection of tips, tutorials, reviews, and information that will help people become better photographers. I think that by sharing what I know with you, and you sharing what you know with me, we will become better photographers. I am always grateful for your comments on blog posts and via email. I want to make something clear to the readers of this site. I do from time to time talk about, link, and sometimes advertise products or service. If possible I do become an affiliate of companies to tell you about the product or service because it is usually easier to get nice banners, and link widgets if you are an affiliate. Being an Affiliate means that if you click the link on the site and buy the product I get a percentage of the sale usually 1%-50%. As far as products go I adhere to a strict code for your benefit and the integrity of the information I write here:
1. All of the products I talk about I either use or if my use is impossible I know everything about the product and think it will help you or I know someone personally that uses or has used the product.
2. I will not talk about products I have not researched thoroughly.
3. Any product I mention on the site, I believe can help you improve your business, life, or photography. This includes all advertisers and product I talk about and link to.
I hope that this helps build trust within the Digital Photography Department Community and Blog. Not many writers would say this to their readers because advertising pays the bills. I am hoping that this helps you feel like this is not just an advertising/ sell out site. Because really I am writing here because I love photography and really enjoy talking with other photographers.
There is only one exception to the information above and that is google adsense. I do not limit the ads served on my adsense account to fit the criteria above.
