We’re always looking for great content at DigitalPhotographyDepartment. If you know a thing or two about photography send us an article or an article pitch! If we publish your work, you’ll receive US$30, the potential to earn a higher fee if you become a regular writer, and plenty of exposure to the large Photography community.

What we want from you:

Great writing! Editors exist to make your work even better, but when we’re forced to spend all our time cleaning up mistakes, we don’t always have time left to make the article really awesome. Send it to us in good shape to begin with.
Web writing! Use lists, subheadings, and quotes to break up text. Articles that work great are tips, tricks, reviews and tutorials. Keep paragraphs short — not too short, but short enough to be digestible on the screen. Use active voice and simple language.
Practical writing! Give our readers advice that they can put to use.

What you need:

A PayPal account to receive funds.
Important facts:
The editor may or may not publish your article. If it’s not accepted, you don’t get paid for it, and it remains your property.
You may not receive a response if your piece is rejected. If you have heard nothing after two weeks, please feel free to publish the piece elsewhere.
The article must be your original work and it must not be published anywhere else. If we publish it and find out you’ve published it elsewhere, things may get a little unpleasant for both of us.
The editor will edit your article. If you don’t feel comfortable with changes being made to your work, do not submit.
If we accept your article, you grant Digital Photography Department a license to be the exclusive publisher of the article online, and non-exclusive publisher of the article offline. You may republish small extracts elsewhere on the web with the intent of directing people to the article. The license you grant Digital Photography Department allows us to use the article in our other sites, products and services.
You’ll be paid in the first week of each month after your article has been published.
Email editor@DigitalPhotographyDepartment.com with the subject line “Contribute to DigitalPhotographyDepartment” and attach your article. If you don’t use the right subject line, your piece probably won’t be read. If it’s clear you haven’t read the information above, your piece probably won’t be accepted. Other than that, good luck!
